هذه القصيدة مستوحاة من نداءات المنتفضين في السودان - تحية لهم 

Inspired by slogans of the Sudanese uprising - I salute the people of Sudan.  My thx to Marian Aziz for the English translation (below).

بكتُل سكات الزول*

"أطّـلقة ما بتكـتُـل

بكـتُـل سكات الزول"*

لو صمتَ أهلُ الحقِ

لظفرَ أهلُ الزور

لو خفت نابَ النمرِ

لقضيتَ خلفَ السور

لو اعتراكَ الشكُ

لما رأيتَ النور

هذي مدينتنا

فلترحلوا عنها

هذي شوارعنا

تلك مزارعنا

وسمومكم فيها

قضت مضاجعنا

هذي مدينتنا

ليست مدينتكم

فلترحلوا عنها

ولترحلوا عنا

الصمتُ … لن نصمت

الصبرُ … لن نصبر

تحلل الزمنُ

وتغلغل العفنُ

ما عاد يجدينا

أن ننتظر منكم

عدلا ولا وصلا

قلاعُكم هدمت

ابراجُكم سقطت

طلقاتُكم طاشت

بل سجننا فينا

It’s Silence that kills

Bullets don’t kill

It’s the silence of men

If the righteous remain silent

Injustice will triumph

If you fear the Tiger’s fang

You’ll die behind closed doors

If doubt possesses you

Never will you see the light

This is our town

You don’t belong here

These are our homes, our roads, our farms…

And your poison is widespread

This is our town

Leave it and go; leave us and go

Silence no more

Patience no more

Time is running

Decay is spreading

Futile it is to wait

For justice or empathy

Your castles demolished

Your towers collapsed

Your bullets missed

But fear still owns us

You did not imprison us

Yet we imprison ourselves

Bullets don’t kill
